ART MOBILE of MONTANA
The Art Mobile of Montana is an educational art outreach
program that provides access to high quality, original and contemporary art exhibits and art instruction by a professional
art educator for schools and diverse groups. The only program
of its kind in Montana, this statewide program offers interactive presentations about our annual art exhibits, quality hands-on
art lessons, and teacher education. The Art Mobile program
helps others to understand the importance of the visual arts
and to educate through art about the diversity of the human experience, culture, practices, customs, and history. |

What is the Art Mobile?
The Art Mobile comes right to your door with a van full of an original
exhibit of quality art works. Schools and groups that schedule this service
receive an interactive presentation of the art, followed by art lessons.
Several fine art lessons are available, taught by a professional art
educator, with focus on art fundamentals and individual expression. The
Art Mobile is available during school hours, after school, and evenings.
Lessons are aligned with the Montana Performance Standards for the Arts.
Continuing education for teachers is also available while the Art Mobile is
on site.
How Does the Art Mobile Work?
The Teaching Artist Salley Williamson displays the exhibit on portable walls
in a room at the
site. She then delivers an interactive presentation addressing
the artwork,
the artists, design and color, and brings the importance of art into
the
discussion. After presenting, Salley teaches art lessons for each class or
group desiring hands-on participation.
Hours: Daytime, after school, evening hours (for community members and
families) and repeat visits for follow-up art lessons. Art lessons are available
year-round.
Is there a Cost?
Each site pays what they can of our fee, and our grants pay for the remainder!
You do not have to apply for a grant; this has already been
done.
In other words, the Art Mobile will help you to subsidize the cost of
a visit to your school or group.
This is how it works:
A basic two-hour art mobile visit that includes a presentation and
art lesson costs $165.00. Each additional art lesson runs $55.00.
Travel costs are additional, divided among the number of sites
presented for, during one tour. If the director is out for more than
a day's drive from home, sites often provide either private home
or motel accommodations.
1) Detemine how many hours of presentations you want
2) Determine how many hours of art lessons you want
3) Tell us what you can afford, and we will put our grant funds to work
to help make your visit affordable for you.
4) Schedule a time - Art Mobile will come to your Door!
Remember: Art Mobile Grant funds offset costs so that "no school or
group is left behind."
