Sand Springs is a one-room school house located directly off of Highway 200. Sand Springs combined with another school nearby called Ross Elementary in Mosby. The teacher at Ross Elementary brought all two of his students to join the five at Sand Springs. There wasn’t much space for the presentation, but with the help of the teacher, we were able to make room for the presentation and lesson in their one classroom. Out of all the artwork, students most enjoyed talking about Theodore Waddell’s Black Angus abstract. One student said, “ I don’t think it’s a cow, it looks like a bear.” We spent time picking out where each of us thought the eyes, mouth, etc. were. The teacher Vince, had a red laser point, in which he had fun using on the artwork. Students decided that looking at the abstract piece was similar to looking at a cloud, picking out images from your own perspective. For the lesson, we created miniature collages with magazines to resemble Jennifer Ogden’s style. One student worked past the hour to finish hers. Before leaving, we took a group photo, making sure to include Jasper, the school dog.
