The staff at Wolf Creek are amazing people- thank you Crystal, Kay, and Jodi for an amazing day! We had such great conversations about school food - students were eating homemade shepard’s pie, persimmons for snacks, and there was talk about making pumpkin pies from the pumpkins dropped off by a community member. It was clear to me that this was a place where students came first in every aspect of the school from education to healthy eating habits!
We had a great time during the presentation filled with laughter. When asked why an artist would make something abstract rather than representational, one student responded “it makes us have to use our imaginations to come up with something and we have to make a guess from what we know”. Another student (kindergarten) made a very detailed sketch of Stephen Glueckert’s sculpture that included hands drawn as rock, paper, scissors and each connecting wire!

The student's were so sweet, about 1 week after my visit a thick envelope arrived in my mailbox. When I opened it, a cascade of sparkles fell into my lap with drawings and thank you notes! It made my day! Thank you Wolf Creek Rockstars!
